Established in 2002, The Post is a local, family-owned restaurant rooted in tradition, resilience, and community. Named after our family’s last name, The Post Restaurant & Bar was founded by Hoppy and Lynda Lou Post as a cozy gathering place where people could enjoy great food, strong drinks, and even better company; a true mom-and-pop shop tucked just outside of Modesto.

The heart of our design came from a trip to Italy, where Lynda Lou was inspired by the rustic charm, timeless decor, and warm, welcoming atmosphere. When you walk through our doors, you’ll notice touches of that inspiration throughout the space. From the colors and textures to the artwork, all hand-painted by a talented local artist who brought the vision to life.

Before The Post came to be, Hoppy spent years building his construction business in Manteca. After overcoming many challenges and struggles, he found success and purchased this Modesto property in 1999 to expand our partner company, Panelized Structures. But he had a bigger dream— to create a place where the community could come together over food and connection. That dream became The Post Restaurant & Bar, built right here on the same land.

Over the years, we’ve grown into one of Modesto’s hidden gems. A little off the beaten path, but full of heart. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick lunch, enjoying a drink on the patio, or joining us for a Friday night event, we hope you feel the love, intention, and history behind everything we do.
